The University of Toledo, a student-centered public metropolitan research university, integrates learning, discovery and engagement, enabling students to achieve their highest potential in an environment that embraces and celebrates human diversity, respect for individuals and freedom of expression. The University of Toledo is recognized as a major force in contributing to the discovery of new technology and knowledge. Since 1996, The University of Toledo has been issued 36 patents, bringing the total to 86 only Ohio State University, University of Akron and University of Cincinnati have more patents in the state. Our Honors Program is one of the oldest programs of its kind at a major university. With an emphasis on undergraduate research opportunities, the Honors Program has sent a delegation to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research every year.

University of Toledo students regularly win prestigious national fellowships, including the Fulbright, the Woodrow Wilson, the National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, the National Consortium for the Physical Sciences, the Whitaker Foundation, the Goldwater, the Madison Foundation Fellowship, and the Phi Kappa Phi National Fellowship.

The University of Toledo is listed in the most recent edition of the "100 Best Colleges for African-American Students." For three consecutive years, University of Toledo has been named one of "America's most wired colleges" by Yahoo! Internet Life magazine. Centennial Mall is one of the "100 most beautifully landscaped places in the country," according to the American Society of Landscape Architects. Only 22 college campuses are on the list.

The $33 million Wolfe Hall, which opened in 1998, offers one of the most advanced science facilities of its kind in the nation for pharmacy, chemistry and life sciences. The Lake Erie Research and Education Center is a state-of-the-art environmental research and teaching facility located on the shore of Lake Erie in Oregon, Ohio. Built in 1990, the Student Recreation Center was touted as one of the best of its kind in the nation by USA Today the University of Toledo is one of the largest employers in northwest Ohio.

University of Toledo offers many programs of study in eight colleges:

  • Toledo Arts & Sciences College
  • Toledo Business College
  • Toledo Education College
  • Toledo Engineering College
  • Toledo College of Law
  • Toledo College of Pharmacy
  • Toledo University College.

The annual fees for full time undergraduate students are $7,054 for Ohio residents and $15,865 for non-residents. Graduate fees are $9,396 for Ohio residents and $18,207 for non-residents.

The University of Toledo is one of 13 state universities in Ohio. It was established in 1872 and became a member of the state university system in 1967. The University of Toledo is one of 249 National Universities-Doctoral ranked by US News & World Report.

The University of Toledo operates under a semester calendar. The University of Toledo awarded 2,421 undergraduate and 718 graduate and professional degrees during the 2003-2004 academic year. The University of Toledo holds a "Doctoral/Research Extensive" classification from the Carnegie Foundation.
