The
Toledo University Library promote the learning and research activities
of the University through our collections and services including access to information
resources worldwide to facilitate the exchange of ideas, the Libraries also serve
as the University's cultural and intellectual commons. With more than 1.6 million
volumes and over 4,000 periodical subscrip-tions, library collections support
the subject areas in the curricula of the colleges and the research interests
of over 1,000 faculties. The William S. Carlson Library is the main library for
The University of Toledo. Other libraries include the Learning Resource Center
(LRC) located at the Scott Park Campus, and the Law Library located within the
College of Law on the Bancroft campus. UTMOST
is the online catalog providing access and locations of materi-als in all UT libraries.
The University of Toledo is a charter member of OhioLINK, a statewide library
and information network which links collections in academic libraries in the state.
UTMOST provides seamless access to a variety of online databases, full text journals,
and full textbooks. Reference librarians are available to assist users in selecting
appropriate databases for research. Policies
:- The
University of Toledo Libraries have instituted some policies in order to preserve
our collection and ensure that the library is a safe and comfortable environment
for all of our patrons. We ask that you be considerate of your fellow library
users and abide by the following rules. Other services and collections may have
particular policies governing their use. No
smoking is permitted in the libraries, nor are food and/or beverages allowed.
Children under fourteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult while in
the libraries.
Group study rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. Groups of
two or more are given priority for use of the rooms over individual patrons. Computer
Use Policy: University
Libraries provides instructions on how to use the resources available from this
site. Library patrons are authorized to make selections and to follow keystroke
instructions as provided by on-screen displays, handouts, and signs. Any
attempts to leave the menus or local system through keystrokes not suggested by
the system or a librarian may be interpreted as unauthorized use of the system.
Game playing, reading/sending electronic mail (including using chat rooms), or
using these workstations for personal profit is prohibited. In keeping with The
University of Toledo's Computer Usage Policy, unauthorized use is prohibited,
and is subject to prosecution, suspension or termination. Electronic
mail, word processing, spread sheet software packages, and other Internet applications
are provided in the Student Computing labs on campus. Copyright
:- The
copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the
making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under
certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized
to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions
is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other
than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for,
or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use,"
that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves
the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment
of the order would involve violation of copyright law. Services
:- Finding
: Course reserves can be searched online by Instructor Name or Course Number.

& Audiovisual Materials: Borrowing & Fines : Materials on reserve can only be
checked out for a limited time period, which is set by the course instructor.
Typical time periods are one hour, two hours, three days or a week. Using
Electronic Reserves : The documents placed on reserve can be viewed on any computer
(PC or Mac), connected to the Internet with any current web-browser (Microsoft
Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher or Netscape 4.0 or higher) .This service will
not work with the America Online web browser. If you are using AOL, please open
up Netscape or Internet Explorer to use this service. Borrowing
: To check out materials from the library you need a current university I.D. card
("Rocket Card") or other state-issued identification such as a driver's license.
Bring the items and your card to the circulation desk. There is also a self-checkout
machine located near the desk in Carlson Library for your convenience. Renewing
: You can renew your books in person at any University of Toledo Library circulation
desk, or online through your library record. UT items can be renewed online only
once, most OhioLINK items can be renewed online up to four times, if no one has
put a hold on it at the original library. Renewals extend the due date from the
time of renewal, not from the end of the original loan period. OhioLINK items
can only be renewed during the last week before they are due. Renewals cannot
be done over the phone. Searching
for Missing Books : If our library catalog UTMOST says the item is AVAILABLE but
it is not on the shelf, please ask at the Reference or Circulation desks for help
in locating it. If library staff cannot find it for you, you may ask the Circulation
staff to fill out a Missing Items Form and change the status in the computer to
MISSING. This will allow you to request the item through OhioLINK if there is
another copy available in the system. Other

Lost & Found : Items found in the library are kept here for one week before being
turned over to the UT Police Department.
Printing: Items printed from library research workstations can be picked up here.
The cost is $0.10 per page, payable in cash, credit card, or Rocket Card dollars.
